NTC@Maryland Hosts Inagural Transportation Innovation and Policy Summit


On Thursday, April 14, 2016 the NTC@Maryland hosted the inaugural Transportation Innovation and Policy Summit. The event brought together over 150 participants from academia, industry, and government agencies to discuss "Innovative Multimodal Solutions for Reducing Congestion."

Before delivering his keynote speak, the Honorable Anthony Foxx, Secretary, U.S. Department of Transportation met with UMD President Wallace Loh, UMD Vice President of Research Patrick O’Shea, NTC@Maryland students, faculty, and researchers at a technology showcase. The showcase featured the accomplishments of the NTC@Maryland and ongoing cutting edge research that is making national impacts.

Other highlights of the Summit included a plenary panel session, "Dialogues on Innovative Multimodal Solutions for Reducing Congestion," featuring Robert Arnold, Director, Office Of Transportation Management, Federal Highway Administration, Gregory C. Johnson, Maryland State Highway Administrator, and Elise Miller-Hooks, Director, Cis And Crisp Programs, National Science Foundation; and a lunch keynote presentation from Pete Rahn, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation.

The NTC@Maryland thanks the US DOT, UMD Division of Research, Clark School of Engineering, and Civil and Environmental Engineering Department for their support and assistance in organizing this event.
